Overview
Cork County Council is constructing a Greenway on the former railway corridor between Midleton and Youghal. The 23km long Greenway will be an off-road walking and cycling route through the heart of East Cork which will connect the towns and villages of Midleton, Mogeely, Killeagh and Youghal.
The Midleton to Youghal Greenway will be an important amenity for the local community, providing a safe, accessible and attractive route on an easy gradient, suitable for use by people of all ages and abilities. The development of the Greenway will enhance and extend the network of cycle facilities within the county to support sustainable transport objectives, contributing to health promotion, wellbeing and overall quality of life. The Greenway will be an important addition to tourism infrastructure within the county and East Cork expected to benefit from increased visitor numbers, providing a boost to the local economy.
